I have a project that needs some work done from a few key individuals outside of the main team. These will be specific stories assigned to specific people.

I want to track these issues, but if I add the issues to my backlog and add the people to my team that will make it difficult to track velocity.

What is the best practice for tracking these issues?

@Pete Reiter Components can be used to segregate and track these issues in two stages like below.

Stage 1 to track other team's issue.

  1. Create a component in your project say ProjectX. For example, TeamB. Give relevant name as per your requirement.
  2. Assign component created in step 1 to issues that are being handled by other team.
  3. Create a filter as mentioned below to track such issues. project = ProjectX and component = TeamB
  4. You may want to use filter created in step 3 in Dashboard to track such issues in graphical view.

Stage 2 to remove above issues from Backlog:

  1. Create another filter as mentioned below to exclude other team's issue. project = ProjectX and component != TeamB
  2. Use filter created in step 1 in agile board which is being used for project. It will prevent those issues from appearing in backlog.
