How to view and move Issues on the fewer columns defined on an Agile Column

Many states and associated transactions. Yet when looking on the Agile columns  we don't have a 1-2-1 view of the statuses. How to move on the statuses from the Agile board if there is no column to drop the Issue in to ? How to mix the waterfall aspects with the view on agile?

Thanks - David

If you want to drop an issue into a status on the board, you MUST include it on the board.  By definition.

If you put many status into one column (which is perfectly valid), JIRA splits the column into different sections, one per status, when you pick up a card that can go into the column for dragging.
