Did you mean:

I cannot get Issue permissions to take effect.

smaction June 6, 2018

HI I have just installed an evaluation copy of Jira.  I discovered the default settings allowed any logged in user to reassign a task.

I created a key user role and then went to Issues:Permission Schemes: Default permission and added the key user role to the assign user permission.

Any user can still  reassign an issue.  Where did I go wrong?

TIA

Scott

Hi Scott, did you remove that permission from the 'default' role?

The fastest way to find out where your permission scheme is funky is to go to the permission helper. You can navigate there by going to 'Admin' in an issue and clicking permission helper.

This tool is great for self-servicing while you learn the ropes.

I used the permission helper and found the default permission is still there.  I went back to where I added the key user role, but cannot find a way to remove the default permission.

Hey Scott, follow the instructions that Jack laid out. You will need to select Actions > Edit Permissions > Assign Issues > Click 'Remove' and then select the role you'd like to stop having reassign access.

Can you show us a screenshot of the permission scheme? I suspect we're missing some information.

I'm on cloud, so it might look a bit different when you're editing, but here you go.

Thank you both.  I found it is in Issues:Permission Schemes: Default permission on serverCapture.PNG version.  Then there is a remove link next to edit.

you set permission to assign issues under Project > Settings > Permissions then update the "Assign Issues" under the Issue Permission. As you are on server it might be slightly different.
