I had a Production Issue board which had a custom field called Issue Criteria with a list of values setup as a drop down.
While trying to delete one of the values, I accidentally ended up deleting the context and now those values are not showing up on any of the issues.
Is there a way to recover the context in a way where this can be recovered?
.
You cannot recover. You will have to recreate as you initially did. Arguably if you had done a very recent backup just before the delete mishap then you could restore from backup. But I suspect you would loose more than you would gain since any changes sine the last backup would be lost when restoring.
How do I check for the presence of backups?
I am not aware of any manual backups but there may be auto backups setup

Also once I recreate the values for the custom field, will I also need to re-tag all the individual issues?
I am assuming the answer is yes but still looking for some ray of hope

Backups are performed under admin > system > backup manager. The Restore is under “system” as well. If your admin is running regular backups then they would know if/when and where to access backups.
yes you would need to re-tag. 😔

That's a terrifying feature and lack of warning unless I missed it. I created a new context and deleted the original. Thus losing an important field for thousands of tickets. I don't remember seeing any warning. UGH. And since I have no backup....booo me.
