I have set up a trial site but do not see a full dashboard when I logon.

Hey Dominic, 

Maybe you have installed Confluence as an Empty Site, so there's no content in Confluence(such as pages or spaces). If you had installed as Example site, you'd have some content to show.

What do you mean by "full dashboard"?  If you've created a new trial, you won't have any data for a dashboard, so you'll get mostly empty gadgets to begin with.
