I'm getting a warning for an automation with issues and I don't understand it

Max Boerma September 17, 2024

Hi!

For an automation we want to add a components with a scheduled task for all user stories that have an Epic as a parent. We want to copy the component from the parent to the story. afbeelding.png

Now we're getting this warning and I don't know what it means. Do we need to change something?

Hi @Max Boerma , Welcome to the Atlassian Community! Change the trigger for the automation rule and use something like 'Field value change' trigger and use components after that use condition (which restrict the rule to only epic). Then use branch to copy component from parent(Epic) to story(Child).

Give it a try and let me know how it goes. Thanks

hi @Max Boerma , does your scheduled trigger component include a JQL? Your branch component would need to reference one more Epics.

you might also consider using lookup issues to gather the epics to be assessed.

I doesn't use a JQL at this moment. We want it to look at all Epics in that project. Could we use that as the JQL somehow?

Type in (story, task) and parent is not empty

The above would resolve into any issue of type story or task where there is an epic associated to it. Note that if you have other types that you have defined to be at the story/task level then include those in the parentheses.
