One of my teams copied issues from one board to another. The issues were correctly renumbered to the new key for the new board. When the team went to start a sprint, instead of starting at Sprint 1 with the key for the new board, they started at Sprint 39 using the Sprint key for the old board.
example - the old board had "ASE" as the key for the issues and the Sprint numbers. The new board has "AL" as the key for the issues but still has "ASE" as the key for the Sprint number.
Where can I fix this for my team?
My team had copied / cloned issues from one scrum board (ASE) to another in a different project (AL). JIRA assumed that the sprint from the ASE team had issues from BOTH teams. My teams didn't mean to do that. They wanted a new project and to start at sprint 1. What we did was remove the AL issues from the ASE sprint. The new team, the AL team, then started a new sprint and edited the Sprint's name and number. We don't know what's going to happen once the team closes sprint 1. Will JIRA give us Sprint 2 for the new team? Even if it doesn't, we can edit the name and number of the Sprint.
Good thing the JIRA key for the sprints is a unique number and has nothing to do with the project code or the sprint number. Our AL Sprint 1 is JIRA sprint number 261. So as long as I use the sprint number in any queries, we should be OK.
Another option, if the old sprints are NOT closed, is to bulk change/ change sprint.
Else, its an DB edit.
Good luck,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
I forgot all about bulk change. Thanks for the reminder. I was able to solve the problem and my team is now moving forward. Thank you.

Hello,
You can't change the key, the only way to change it is via DB, I don't advise that.
You can edit the board filter, but the key can't be changed as far as I know.
Please correct me if I am.

Hi Red,
Thanks for getting back to me. I was afraid that might be the case.

Hello,
If I understood correctly, you can solve your problems by editing the board filter, you can always change the sprint name, and now JQL functions based on sprint name not his key.
If you need help how to search for sprints via JQL and how to edit board filters just ask.
