I want to be able to compare story pts associated with 2 issue types.

  1. Query all issues with IssueType = Story
  2. Get the total points for all of these isses
  3. Search for all issues with IssueType = Bug
  4. Get the total points for all of these Bugs   (bugs have pts in this project)

project = XXXX and issuetype = Story

So this gives me a list of stories -- but I need to add the story points?

Hi Mike,

you won't be able to achieve that easily without the use of a third-party app at all. A possible solution is an app called sumUp for Jira we developed years ago to implement similar use cases. It offers an enhanced two-dimensional filter statistics gadget, among other things, to summarize numeric values. Configured it could look something like this and please excuse the different axis configuration as I simply took the screenshot from our documentation:

SUM_Doc_030

Would that be something to fit your need or is a dashboard gadget not the right thing you're looking for?

Best, Max
