I want to change a custom field to anther custom field while retaining the data on tickets

We have multiply projects in Jira and noticed there are two custom fields one named Zone the other Zones and wanted to merge the two fields into one field while retaining the data on tickets.

Hi @Matthieu Imbert ,

You can't change custom field type through UI. You can do this on database level (which is generally not recommended).

Thanks I will look into your answer more and see if it works or we just run with the current and have the two custom fields

Are both fields the same type? And which type are they? I.e  single select, text, etc.

Hi Fabian,

"zone" is single choice and "zones" is multiple choice

both fields have same data in it
