I want to update a custom Date field with today's date (no time) using a post function.  I need only the date.  If I use %%DATETIME%% then it doesn't update the field correctly. 

Is it possible to do it in Jira without a plugin?

I've created custom date field and managed to assign current date with '%%CURRENT_DATETIME%%'.

Thank you for your response, Aleksandr!  I did exactly the same, but wasn't sure if it populated the date portion correctly without the time.  

Did it work correctly all the time or did you ever run into any mismatches between the current date/time and what was populated?
