If I delete a plan/program does it delete the issues linked to it?

I've created 3 plans and a program based off of team boards that I had. If I delete the plans/program will it delete (or effect in anyway) the boards and issues that I based the plan on?

Thanks

Hi @David Chertoff

Deleting a plan or program in Jira will not delete or affect the team boards or issues that the plan or program was based on. It will only remove the plan or program itself and any associated information such as sprints, versions, and releases. However, if the plan or program is linked to active sprints or active versions, then unlink the sprints and versions from the plan or program, and the sprints will be closed and the versions will be released. It's always a good idea to check the links between the plans, programs, sprints, versions, and boards before you delete anything to avoid any unexpected consequences.

Thank you for your reply.

how do I unlink the plan if the sprints are active? (I made the plan off team boards that are supposed to be active continuously)

You will see the Sprint field when you open an issue connected to the sprint you want to delete. To remove the issue, just remove the sprint from this field. Repeat this for each issue that was transferred to your second project and is not supposed to be included in the sprint.

If the sprint isn't active right now, the other option is to drag and drop the issues from it to the backlog or another sprint using the board.
