If I have a required custom field associated with an issue type, must I have this same custom field required for all issue types?
My problem right now is an issue type is requiring a custom field that is not listed in the Configure Screen for it. It is listed in a Configuration Screen for another issue type.

The short answer is no. You will need to add the custom field to the screens of that issue type. Basically Jira has Issue Type Screen Scheme. This allows you to map different Screen Scheme for each Issue Types in the project. Thank you very much Mohamed! I resolved my problem simply by creating a separate Field Configuration for each Issue Type. Not sure if this is the "proper" process, but it has solved my problem.
