Importing subtasks is giving me 'not a subtask' error message

I have a csv with several subtasks that I want to import and associate to an existing task. I set things up such that in the csv there is a column called parent with parent issue id number in it (ABCD-1) and I map that column to the jira field Parent ID in the import tool. I also have a column called Issue Type with the subtask issue name. The mapping tool does not give Issue Type as a field I can map to, so I don't know how to identify what issuetype to assign to the issue being created. When I run the import I get an error "doesn't have Subtask Issue Type, its Parent Id mapping will be ignored", it has created the issue using the default issuetype, not using the subtask name I provided in csv. So my question is

How do I map the Issue Type column to the issue being created

The online help shows issue type as a field I should be able to select in mapping tools, but I'm not seeing it. I have jira admin rights if that plays into it at all.

Thanks for any help

Jay

I just found the answer to this in another post. The Issue Type field must be present on the Create Issue screen for that project in order for the Importer to present it as a mapping option.
