We have a few fields in JIRA (Data Center) that have over 100 options in a drop down. I want to understand if there is a limit in JIRA Cloud with the number of options. I have seen a few posts about 55 being the limit but it is usually referencing JIRA Service Desk. I want to know for JIRA Software in Cloud so we can prepare for the migration. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!
Hi @Diane Metzger
As far as I know there is a hard limit of 10.000 options for native select-list fields used in a company managed project. With 100 options you are on the safe side and have plenty of room to scale. For team-managed projects, there may be different limits I am not sure about.
I hope this helps.

In Jira Cloud, there is no hard limit, but it will impact the loading time when you start typing for a matching value.
Furthermore, I just don't recommend using a select list with that many options, it's not user friendly.

What do you recommend instead? Is there a database of some type that we can link out to? We want to pull in available values from an auxiliary system and want to know the best way to do so.
