I have created a portfolio plan and a roadmap. it shows a list of stories to be delivered in a sprint and also as part of a release. Every story must get completed in the assigned Sprint. Therefore the start and end date for the story should be set to start and end date of the relevant sprint; we don't go to lower level to set dates for each story. Sprint dates represent our commit to complete it. However, I can't find a way to do this without manually changing the dates. I do understand that some people may want to overwrite the dates if needed manually; but there should be the option to define start and end for a story based on the sprint that's in?
As far as I know, this isn't possible - I believe you can relate due date to target end date via Advanced Roadmaps, but that's the main built-in function.
That's not to say it isn't possible to do something other than manual entry. You can add Target Start / Target End Date fields to an issue's screens for example - this would allow you to use bulk change via issue search!
A more advanced option would be to consider whether a scripting app could help with this - this answer in regards to ScriptRunner suggests it might be possible to utilise the sprint start/end dates - you could look into whether:
