In Search Issues results, Time Spent/Logged Work in subtasks doesn't roll up to Parent?

When I pull reports, specifically to get "time spent/time logged" against a given set of stories and/or date range, the time logged in the Story sub-tasks aren't displaying when I have only Issue Type - Story checked. 

I have to do both stories and subtasks, export and let excel do the time rollup. Very manual and time consuming.

Am I missing something which would prevent the parent Story from displaying the total amount of time logged against it (via the child subtasks)? 

Any ideas that don't involve getting an add-on or purchasing another app? Seems like this should be native to Jira since it's just pulling db results based on query and displaying in my column config. Which yes, I have "time spent" as a column :)
