In advanced roadmaps, how can I roll up issue progress from multiple hierarchy levels?

The advanced roadmaps issue hierarchy I'm using is Initiative, Epic, Story.  I would like to be able to show an aggregated rollup of Story-level progress at the Initiative level.

By default, the Progress field on an Initiative will show Epic progress, but I do not see a mechanism that would count Story progress instead. Is there a configuration or other technique available that could enable this multi-level rollup?

One footnote: We do not use story points, that's not a viable option.

If you are not using Story Points, what would you use as the basis for measuring Story-level progress rolled up to the Initiative?

The basis for progress is the count of stories in either todo, inprogress or done status categories. That's why I am seeking a technique to aggregate and roll up story counts across the epics for an initiative.

So far I have not found information about changing the basis for those progress bars. They appear to be limited to the direct child issues.
