In cloud JIRA, with in epic, click on "Create issue in epic" doesn't show "Project" field

Ashish Pandey August 6, 2020

Context:

In my master project, product owners of different teams create their epics. However product owners can create story for other teams in their epic. To do so they can follow below steps:

1. In Cloud JIRA, create an epic

2. From agile board in backlog view, they can "Create issues in epic"

3. When they click on "Create issue in epic" then, "Create issue" window opens

4. In "Create issue" window, on the top they can find a field "Project" to select the project name, where issue has to create.

Problem:

When open epic in issue view, and try to create issues with in epic, then "Project" field doesn't appear. Steps are:

1. Open epic in new tab

2. Click on "Create issue in epic" button

3. Under "Issues in this epic", issuetype dropdown appears, and product owner can add summary. but, product owner can't select project name.How_to_show_project_field.png

Hi Ashish,

This appears to be some lost functionality in the New Jira Issue View. If you use the Old view you will see the process as you describe in the top part of your question where you can change the project.

But in the New Jira Issue View, the functionality is different. You can go to the Feature Request here to see if there is a sub-task that captures this need already. Or you can submit a new Feature Request.

Hi @Ashish Pandey

Whilst you're correct, there is a variation when using the add options within an Epic's main issue view.

However, the original process you mentioned - creating child issues from the Epic Panel on a board - works the same in the old or new issue view. If this is an option for your product owners, I would advise asking them to do it via here to make it easier :)
