In order to recieve emails Jira needs to be able to login to the account? As each email address costs us money we don't want to pay for one that is only used by Jira.

 

We have to pay for each something@lostmy.name address we use, we can setup a group email for free but then it doesn't have a password that can be logged into. In this case it just forwards emails to whomever is in that group.

Yes, it needs to log in because it needs to read and delete incoming emails.
