Inherited workflow in Jira

Hi All,

is there a possibility to inherit a workflow in Jira?

We have some governance and compliance things, that we would like to realize in one "parent" workflow and after that, copy them for different projects. Than in own project can project admin change his "child" workflow except inherited status/transition. And if we will change "parent" workflow it will change all "children" workflows.

Is there any plugin or possibility to do this?

No, there's nothing that will do this.

You can create a workflow and copy it, giving it to other projects and issue types.  But there's no partial access to changing a workflow - you can either edit a whole workflow, or you can't touch it at all.  And the copy of a workflow is entirely independent of the other workflows (apart from the terrible flaw that changing status name affects every workflow using it)

Thanks for your answer @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-

What a shame. We have a lot of teams, that would like to manage or to have different workflow and don't want a one workflow for all. But we have also compliance and governance that want some required things. As you wrote it would be terrible to go through all copies of workflows and realize compliance things.
