We would like to setup a development platform of JIRA to trial on some application upgrading or new plug-in. We have setup a production JIRA with production license key. Afterwards we clone it as an development platform, change the hostname & IP address. Then when I trying to import the development license key to replace the production one in the development platform, it appears an error. What should I do? Please advise. Thanks.
You won't be able to place a development license into a product like Jira Core, Jira Software, or Jira Service Desk while the system currently has one or more of these products in a production/commercial license.
These types of licenses (development and commercial) CAN NOT be mixed on the same Jira installation at the same time.
The way around this is to EITHER:
Delete all the current commercial licenses on this Jira site for these products. You can do this in Jira 7 and higher by going to Settings (Gear icon) -> Applications -> Versions & Licenses. On this page you would need to click the trash icon next to each product to delete the license key from the system.
OR
first change the other licensed products to use an evaluation license first. Once all but the last product is using an eval, you can then make the switch on the last product from commercial to development license type. From there you can then apply development licenses to the other products as well.
You can obtain evaluation licenses from https://my.atlassian.com
Evaluation licenses CAN be used in the same system as either commercial OR development licenses are applied for other products.
