Is it necessary to perform the re-indexing after deleting the issues in bulk level?

Hi Team,

We are planning to delete all the older issues from our Jira server (version 8.4.2).

Is it necessary to perform the re-indexing after deleting the issues in bulk level.

Can you please help us with this?

TIA,

Tirupam

First, deleting issues can come back to bite you unless it is for a project you are never going to access again.

When you add/delete/update an issue the system should index itself. However, if something looks wrong then re-index.

All bulk-edit does when you use it is run through the list of selected issues and run the same code that would be run if you have gone to the issue and clicked for the same change.

All issue update processes re-index the issue affected, including delete issue.

(The exceptions are field re-configuration, as issues are not directly changed by those, and app changes, because Jira can't know what an app might be doing with the index or data)
