Is it possible to have comma's in a number field to separate the digits?

You can't input the value with a comma, but it should display with a comma if you are using English in your personal settings. See this previous post:

Hello, COMMA are already part of number field for value separator (Decimals ones).Probably your locale might be not showing you comma - which locale your profile is set to?
United States, when using a number field an inputing a value like “'53,234.00" we get that is an invalid number.
