Is it possible to automatize the creation of task?

María López Carrasco September 25, 2018

We like to divide the work in the smallest piece of work possible so that we can simplify our subtasks and use only a few, like "implementation" o "revision". That is also usefull when seeing the sprint board.

Well, what I would like to know is if is there any way to automatize the creation of subtask when creating a task, allowing me to just create a task and not the subtasks.

In the same way, we would like to automaticly add a "template" in the description of every task for make it easier to everyone to know how to complete that description.

I hope you understand what I am trying to do. Let me know if you need more information o explanation.

Thank you.

Hi,

Of course this is possible. However not directly built-in.

I'm assuming you need to assign them to different people, since you require multiple subtasks, instead of just statuses in the main task (implementation, stabilization etc).

We have something like this setup. Our setup uses Script Runner post functions to do so.

Even though I highly recommend that add-on, as it does so much more for us, there are plenty of free add-ons that do what you require (along with the description template).

For example, have a look at:

There are also other choices.

I'll investigate about those add-ons.

Thank you so much. :)

No problem.

Just keep in mind, in case your pipeline will have a lot of changes/customizations, I would suggest ScriptRunner (paid - however one can manage a lot with it) or any other scripting add-on.

So if you start relying too much on free add-ons, when it's time for upgrade not all of them might be compatible

Cheers
