Our testing team is involved in both Manual as well as Automation testing. Most of our time goes in creating xray test cards and its execution.
Is there a way to automate test card creation using a flat file / csv / any other new way.
We would like to create new test card with a set of pre-requisites (Fix versions, sprint, labels, components, linked issues etc) which can be defined in a file and (maybe) the test steps coming from another file ( as these keep changing).
I'm not sure what you mean with test cards, but I would expect you're talking about the regular issue type "Test" that comes with Xray?
If so, Yes. You can create/import new Tests by using either the default CSV Import from Jira or the import tool provided by Xray. The Importer from Xray uses a special Excel/CSV format that allows you to easily import Tests along with the test steps.
By using the default CSV Importer from Jira, the test steps for manual tests need to be within a single cell, as JSON.
All the fields you like to prefill, can be entered into the CSV/Excel file.
Best regards
Andreas
