Is it possible to customise the user story preview with custom fields?

I had to created custom fields to support "replacing" (per se) the description field on a story issue type.

However this impacts the preview of the story when viewing it via the backlog as I can only an empty description.

Would anyone know if it is possible for the preview panel to be reconfigured to display the fields I need as opposed to the standard JIRA fields?
