Is it possible to relate custom versions of projects to compatibility between them?

I would like to indicate in the versions of the projects the compatibility that they have with the other projects. It would be a way of documenting that a new version becomes compatible only with another version of another project. The goal is to avoid integration problems between them.

I don't believe there is any way OTB to customize the Version/Release entity.

Is it not sufficient to make a note in the Version/Release Description field?
