Hello, we currently have a Jira project that has matured over the last three years. I am wanting to leverage the configuration (schemes, workflows, customer fields etc) into another project. But not bring with it, the data and users.
Can this be done? Or do I manually configure the new project from scratch.
Please note: This isn’t an Import & Export > Restore System, rather selectively restore data.
Anthony
With the database backup & restore mechanism that Jira provides. With the restore mechanism that is provided unfortunately you cannot get granular or selective for picking and choosing specific pieces of data that you want, the restore is all or nothing.
We have built an app to help automate the backup function and enable you to restore data back in a very granular manner, you can restore back a specific issue or an attachment or specific workflows, screens etc.. You can learn more about the Revyz Backup & Restore app here.
Is this Jira project a company-managed project?
If so, have you already considered creating a new project with shared configurations. Creating a project with shared configuration will only use/bring over the schemes from the chosen project:
This method won’t bring the data or users into the new project.
Best regards,
Hamza

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
I forgot to add a little about our Company-Managed projects? We are going to test a Team-Managed Project’ on the same Instance, so we can offer more flexibility to end users around configuration without impacting the Company-Managed project configuration.
If we go down the ‘shared configuration’ idea, which I should have consider that, it would be bi-directional won’t it? Or can it be one directional from Company-Managed project to Team-Managed projects only.
Thanks again Hamza.
