Is it possible to set assignee = request participants for subtasks via automations?

I'm trying to create a scenario where a parent ticket can choose to request participants and using automations those participants have a subtask assigned to them.

So parent ticket chooses the participants it would like to include and then an automation runs on creation of that ticket type and creates multiple subtasks with those requested participants as the assignees.

Is this possible?

Hi @Kathleen King -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

My short answer is: I think so.

I am not quite understanding the workflow you are describing, and it seems to be:

  1. Based upon some information in an issue, you believe you know who will help deliver it
  2. Using that information, you create specific sub-tasks, assigning them to specific people

Subject to the complexity of (1) above, you can probably implement this using the If/Else conditional logic for the automation rules.

Please look over this information to get a start, and if you have difficulties, you can always post an image and information about your rule to get more help.
