Is it possible to switch the priority attribute to text instead of an icon?

Marco Hödtke April 5, 2018

Jira version 6.4.9

The priority is displayed as an icon. This is a problem because when sending e-mail reports to subscribers due to security settings the icon is not displayed, so there is no visible information regarding the priority.

Therefore I would like to have the priority displayed as simple text instead of the icon. How can I achieve that?

Hi Marco,

This is not currently possible. It appears it has been requested in the past but it is not in our roadmap.

A bit of this was discussed as well in a Confluence post, but it appears you might need to edit the source code to change that:

Hi Shannon,

thank you for your answer! I think the problem is, that there is only a link to an image file on the server. If the server is in a domain that is not accessible for the addressee, then the image does not show. Maybe an alternative text (alt text for an html image) would help?

I now have solved my problem by creating a scripted field where I read out the priority of the current issue and put the textual representation into the field.

Kind regards

Marco
