Is it possible to use Due Date as the target schedule in JIRA Portfolio?

We are using Jira to track a large number of projects within a program at a milestone level and need a way to visualize this in a roadmap/Gantt view. We are using the Due Date field to capture when the Milestone is due to be delivered. I have been trying to use Portfolio to do this however it isn't using the Due Date field for the calculation. Is there a way to make this work?

Context:

• There are 20 separate project sites with multiple projects (mapped to Epics)
• We are using the Story level to capture the Due Date and have populated Scrum boards for each site
• The project teams are not using JIRA for Agile delivery and as such story points are not used
