Dear support engineer,

I bought a license for self hosted jira server and install it on my laptop.

Now I want to switch to a cloud environment, for example AWS EC2.

1 Can the same license be applied to an ec2 server? (I doubt if license checks mac address or something like this)

2 Every time I terminate and restart the server, its mac, hostname and ip can change, will this cause problem to the license?

Thanks in advance!

Dewei

Hi @Dewei Zhai

  1. Yes you can use the license on your EC2 server do ensure that you decommission the other server on your laptop because Atlassian explicitly states you must not use the same license on 2 JIRA instances. You can add a trial license on the laptop instance.
  2. No JIRA does not use this to map the license. Your license is mapped to an SEN that is mapped to server ID and this is stored in your database.

Hope this answers your question.
