I need to know how to message employees individually, and collectively. I don't want to have to flip back and forth between my email and the software. Thanks.
Jira emails are triggered by actions made on issues. There's no "messenger" function outside the issue changes.
Can you not mention them within the comments on the Jira card or within Confluence itself? That keeps the discussion about the User Story in one place and together, rather than fractured off into emails?
Use the @ symbol, and then start typing their name. e.g. @Alex Hoffman <- should ping you a notification.

Thanks David. Is there a separate platform as well to communicate on sort of like a instant messenger I was thinking.
