Is there a way to add someone without a Jira account as an issue watcher

David Roberts October 6, 2021

Hi, I know Jira users can be added easily but often we have external users interested in the status of an issue.  At the very least, I'd like a way to track who asked for a feature enhancement (even if I enter it as an issue myself).  I played with just freeform text fields, found labels better since it would reduce errors for repeat users but the label values are global and don't want them available in other projects.    A multi-select option doesn't scale since we have many potential users and I don't want to update the field definition values any time.

Hi @David Roberts 👋

Welcome to the Community! As Ajay suggests Jira Service Management could work great for what you're looking for. You can read more on it here >> https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/service-management

I hope this helps but if you have any more question just ask away 😃

All the best,

Laura

Hi @David Roberts

JSM seems to be a apt for your use-case. JSM provides a portal page where customers can track the status of the raised requests. You could also group by organizations of the customer for further classification.

Ajay
