Hi,
In some cases, we need 3 different people to approve a task before it moves to development.
Is it possible to trigger an email to all 3 persons and request their approval (that will be appended inside the jira issue) and only after all 3 approved the issue will be moved to another status?
Thanks in advance
This is possible with add-ons I do not think it is possible with just the standard JIRA though.
Here are some samples of add-ons:
Let me know if you are referring to the standard approver in JIRA Service Desk though.
From what I see in JSD 3.16 you can set an approval group or add a list of users as approvers and until they all approve, the ticket would not be transitioned.
This is mentioned here.

Thanks for your thorough reply. We don't have a JSD license, was hoping to find an OOTB way to do it.
If I won't find any, will consider add-ons. I do see that one of the add-ons you suggested is free which will definitely be an option if this can't be solved OOTB.

If I understand your requirement you can do this OOTB. When you set up the approval you can select 'one of' or 'all' - i forget the precise language. So if you define 3 users and select 'one of' then any one of the 3 can approve but if you select 'all' then all three must approve. If you want some order to the approval, e.g. manager -> HR -> CFO then create three different approval steps.

Thanks, found this but we don't have the 'Add approval' checkbox in the edit status screen. any idea why?

no idea at all. Are you sure you are selecting the status that has approvals set up for it? Can you provide screenshot? Here is what I see when I double-click on a status.

How do I set up approvals for a status? I thought marking this checkbox is the first step.

Tal, i'm confused. I thought you already were successful in setting up approvals in the workflow? The link you provided earlier should instruct you in how to create workflows w/ approvals.

I now see that it's relevant to JSD only, we don't have the license.
Seems like add-ons would be the solution.
Thanks

i must apologize! I did not notice this was even in the Jira collection. I simply assumed, given the question, that you were asking about JSD. :-(
Indeed if you want approvals in JSW then you need to go the addon route.
sorry!!!
