Is there a way to estimate parts of a issue (parts of a workflow)

radu ciofu October 1, 2018

more specifically:

i have some issues based on quite long workflows. So far they have workd nicely and would rather not change them. Several people work on the same issue in different statuses.

HOWEVER, i have one problem.

I have an estimation for the whole issue.

I WOULD NEED an estimation for only some sections of the workflow.

The main problem is : user1 needs to do this week (for example) only a part of the issue. His part takes him 2 hours. After that, issue goes to user 2 and .......

My problem is the estimated workload for user1 is currently the whole estimated time for the whole issue, which is not correct. He only has to work part of the total estimated time..

Any ideea ?

Thanks.

I would suggest using sub-tasks to solve this problem. User1 can log his time on one sub-task, while user2 can log her or his time on another sub-task (and so on).

can sub tasks have individual estimates?

Yep! As long as you include the estimate fields on the create/edit/view screens on the sub-tasks, you should be able to. You can also roll up the estimates from the sub-tasks into the parent tasks.
