Is there a way to get JIRA to allow more than one value in component field?

It's odd, when I edit an issue and modify the Components field I am allowed to select multiple options.  However, as soon as I save, all but the last option selected are removed & only one remains.

That's not how JIRA normally works.  As you say, the field is multi-select and handles many values.  I suspect someone may have implemented (badly) a tweak to make it single item somehow.

Does it lose all but one value on all three of Create, Edit and in-line edits?  Could you check the history to see if it's only storing one change or two (one with your selection, then a second shortly afterwards with only one)

Good question...

Just one history entry.  It shows the old value being replaced by the newest value (whichever is last in the list identified).  Full edit, in-line edits and new submits all do it (even when I create a new component while editing).
