Is there a way to make a field required dependent on another field's value?

I have a custom field where the values are either blank or a single selection that's checked. If this field has the single selection checked, I would like to make another custom field required. If the single selection is not checked, then the other custom field is not required. is there a way to do this?

Depending on what sort of information you want to hold in the second custom field one possibility is to use a cascading select if the number of options for custom field2 are relatively small. 

However, if you want to achieve the equivalent of a text box when someone selects the "other" option then at present your options around this are limited. Note, that since the release of Forge as the development platform for Cloud Apps allows greater interaction with the UI this may change before I even save this post so it is worth checking the Apps available in the Marketplace for newly released functionality to allow you to do this.

There are options available for this in Jira Server, but nothing appears to be available in Jira Cloud to satisfy your requirements.
