Is there a way to move JIRA from a Windows to a Linux server with a newer version ?

Dominick Sciangula January 18, 2018

trying to move from a Windows server with V6.2.6 to a Linux server with V7.5.2

should I move to the same version and then do a JIRA upgrade ?

Most docs I have found do not reference the upgrade scenario,

The docs don't really cover it because, technically, they are two separate things and trying to document them together will just confuse people.

Even if you do the actual move and upgrade in the same "window of downtime", then plan, test and consider them two separate processes.

In your case, I would migrate from a Windows 6.2.6 install to a Linux 6.2.6 install, then upgrade to 6.4, then 7.0, then 7.5.

But if it's more convenient, there's no reason not to do Windows 6.2.6 to 6.4 to 7.0 to 7.5, then migrate to Linux 7.5.  Or even do the migration part way through - Windows 6.2.6 to 6.4 to 7.0 to Linux 7.0 to 7.5.

Thanks Nic.

That's what I was thinking.

I will try to install v6.2.6 on my Linux server and go through the steps.
