Is there a way to set hours per day on a project basis?

As far as I know, the hours per day setting is a global setting. There is an issue that has been raised for this but it has been sitting there for almost 9 years!

Really seems like basic functionality that is simply being ignored...

Is there any workaround for this?

We have teams that are using different working hours and need some type of solution, which is NOT to go out and buy another plug-in, i.e, Tempo Time Planner.

I'm afraid not, plain JIRA still has a single global hours-per-day setting.

The only workarounds are the ones you fear - install plugins that can handle it.
