Is there a way to specify first name and last name when adding a user?

When I add new users, I can only Invite them with an email address such as john.doe@foo.bar.  After I add them, their name in Jira is "john.doe," so how do I add them as "John Doe?" It's too awkward to update names after the invite.

Is there a syntax where I can invite someone with First/Last/email, like "John Doe<john.doe@foo.bar>?"

Hi @Scott Paden

When you invite a user to your instance, you actually invite a potential new, or existing Atlassian account. You could mess around with the users details if your users were stored in a IDP an were synced with Atlassian Access to the instance.

Hello @Scott Paden

On the cloud, the user is not managed by the "Organization Admin" but it is managed by Atlassian them selves.

To explain to you more, a user can have access to many atlassian products of many organizations with the same email adress. That is why "Organization Admin" can't manage the users details. He can just manage his groups/access to the organization products.

But the user can mange his profile and change his full name. The new name will be shown in all Atlassian products/organizations he belongs to.

For you as "Organization admin", the only way is to "Suggest changes" to the user from the access management page under "Users Directory".

Regards,

Seif,
