Is there any pointers or documentation for JIRA functionality testing

Hi,

A very basic question :). We are adding some custom issue types  and w.r.t, a functional testing for JIRA is planned. Is there any documentation or pointers that I can refer which explains the use cases or approach used for JIRA functionality testing.

There are no fixed best practices regarding functional testing after any customization. So you just need to follow the logic:
1) check workflow
2) check the screens of the tasks you are changing
3) check the availability of a new type of task for different roles
4) check notifications, if any
5) check the preservation of conditions and other workflow settings if they were
