Hello Jira Team,

I've been struggling to find out how I can make Hierarchy edits to the Issues types.

I do not see the option of making those edit in my setting.

Hey @James Cha welcome to the Atlassian Community!

As @walt walt says you won't be able to set different hierarchy levels for different projects/plans within Jira itself.

It is possible to get this level of flexibility using an app like ours (Visor), which has a two-way integration with Jira.

Using Visor you can visualize your live Jira data in a range of view types (Gantt charts, roadmaps, timelines, tables, dashboards, and Kanban boards).

In Visor you can add custom fields to your connected Jira data. You can use this to add extra information or additional hierarchy levels/names/types for specific projects/plans.

I hope I've understood your question, and if so, that Visor might be a good solution for it. You can try Visor for free and read our reviews on the Atlassian Marketplace here:

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1226209/visor-spreadsheet-gantt-chart-for-jira-with-excel-export?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

If that doesn't do the trick, or if I haven't understood your question fully, let me know and I'll see what else we can come up with.

Hi @James Cha and welcome to the Community!

I am not sure if I understand your question entirely. But if my assumption that you are trying to apply a specific issue hierarchy in a single plan (a different hierarchy than in other plans), I am afraid I will have to disappoint you.

The issue hierarchy is configured centrally for your entire Jira instance and is the same for all plans. If you have Jira Admin permissions, you can configure the hierarchy as described in this support article.

There may be some flexibility as you can can assign multiple issues to the same level of the hierarchy and you can add custom hierarchy levels above Jira's default hierarchy of Epic > Standard Issue Types > Sub-task issue types.

Hope this helps!
