Issue type in Jira Timeline

Osama Al-Areky January 25, 2024

Hello,

Is it possible to change the type of issues on Timeline? I need to view other custom issue types that I have created but the timeline only shows epics and tasks by default.

Thank you,

Hello @Osama Al-Areky !

Yes, this is possible if you are using the Jira Software premium plan.

The premium plan will allow you to add more issue types to show on the Timeline except Epic. Epics are enabled by default and cannot be disabled.

This can be achieved by changing the Issue type hierarchy after you have the premium plan activated. You can use a 30 day trial, where you can cancel this plan at any time.

Finally, to the solution:

1. Navigate to Settings -> Issues -> Issue type hierarchy

2. You will presented with this screen:Screenshot 2024-01-25 at 11.15.38.png

3. You will be able to add more issue types besides Epic, in this example Task was being added

NOTE: Changes of hierarchy will be applied to ALL company-managed projects.

As a result, when you navigate to your Timeline:

In this project, there are no Epics created, so this is why you only see Tasks.

Hope this helps.

Hi @Osama Al-Areky

can you share some more details on the project you are using?

In Company managed Software projects the timeline definitely shows any issue types that are configured in your project. Same with business projects.

Are you sure you added the Issue Types to the Project's configuration (schemes)?
