Hi,

We are having an issue while creating a ticket in Jira. Its showing the attached error. I have all the Permissions in those projects as well. It is suddenly reflecting across all the projects.

Hi @anjitha_s

Generally, the problem is the workflow config. Can you please check validators and post-functions in create transition? You may need to remove 3rd party functions.

You can also check atlassian-jira.log file.

Take a look at this doc.

Can you confirm that your people are entering plain text into the text fields in the issue?  Not copying and pasting from other systems with complex formatting, or entering complex text with (for example) emojis in it?

Hi Nic,

Yes we are entering plain text only.

Ok, that probably rules out the "unsupported content" suggestion in the error message.

You will need to read the logs for the detail of the actual error.

There are a number of things it could be, including, but not limited to:

  • A change of permissions that means you no longer have "create" permission (between the time you started to create and when you submitted your new data)
  • A post-function on the issue failing
  • Being on a database that doesn't support a character you have entered (which you've just ruled out)
  • ...

If it were a validator or mandatory field blocking it, you would have got a different error.
