Issues Grouped By Component or Severity?

In the developer world I use grid controls that allow hierarchical grouping. It would be nice if JIRA could group issues sucy as group by component. Is this type of hierarchical view available out of the box or via any plug-in?

It's available in some places, and some plugins provide some mroe views, but I think you need to expand on "hierarchical view" to explain where you see this working in the existing screens and/or how you'd like to see it in reports.
