Issues created via Teams integration go to Backlog instead of Kanban board

Hi everyone,
We're using the free version of Jira, and we've integrated it with Microsoft Teams. Our team usually posts their requests directly in Teams, and we then use the "Create issue in Jira" button to automatically generate issues.

The problem is: all these issues are being created in the Backlog instead of appearing directly on the Kanban board of the project.

Is there a way to configure this behavior so that new issues created from Teams go straight to the board (e.g., the "To Do" column) instead of the backlog?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Sara, happy to welcome you to the comunity!

The reason why they are created that way is that you have a status mapped to the kanban backlog which is probaly the initial status for your newly created issues.

Therefore you have two sollutions:

  1. Remove the status from the kanban backlog and map it to a new column. This would cause all issues in the backlog to be moved to the kanban board.
  2. Create an automation that moves your issues created from Teams to the "To Do" status. Sadly, I am not sure of how you would do that as i'm not sure how to differentiate them from your other issues.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance and have a lovely day!
