Issues disappearing after moving

Jean-Claude Verdonck October 31, 2018

I'm using Jira for several projects. Let's say A, B and C

After some changes there are some strange things that I don't experienced before. I don't know what changes are done because someone else did it and he can't remember what he has changed.

The big line I know is that he made issues from project B appear in the sprint of project A.

The problem: In project A: when I move a issue from "needs review" to "needs documentation" the issue disappears from the active sprint.

I've been looking (in all the settings) and testing (checking the filters for example) for several hours now and I don't know where to find the correct setting to get everything like it was before.

Thank you for any help.

Just found it :-)

In the project -> board settings -> general

There I changed the "location" in something else and now everything is back.

Thanks everyone.

You can do what Warren suggested.

Another thing that you could check is the query associated with the board. Make sure the query itself actually shows the tickets in question.

You can also check the audit logs to see if he made any changes to a workflow.

Thank you for your reply. Where can I find this query?

edit: is it this one:

Filter Query

status in ("In Progress", "To Do", "In Review", "On Hold", Halted) ORDER BY cf[10020] ASC

I checked the audit-log and there are no changes done to a workflow.

Hi Jean-Claude

Have you checked the Columns under Board settings? Look if there are any unmapped statuses on the very right.

Next thing to check is the workflow for Project A - specifically the "needs review" and "needs documentation" area.

You may also want to post here the board filters, plus try to list here what you have checked, so we don't ask and you're just replying checked that, checked that

Thank you for your reply. Yes there are unmapped statuses but they don't contain issues.

Here is the workflow, it's used by all other projects and they don't have the problem of disappearing issues

The filters.... do you mean the quick filters? (board settings -> quick filters). There are none quick filters, I have deleted them when I discovered the problem to see if it caused by this.

It is not possible to tell where I have been looking because I really have clicked on everything (in the projects and in the global jira settings) to see if I could find a setting that could be involved to the problem. I'm not the person that first ask for help and then start to search on my own. I always try to fix it by myself but this time no luck.
