JIRA 6.4 to 7.x upgrade path

Hi, 

My current JIRA version is 6.4.14 and I would like to jump to the latest version 7.8. I know it depends on my plugins but I would like to learn what is the best upgrade path to do so, assuming I have only standard list of plugins provided by Atlassian.

Can I upgrade directly to 7.8 or there are some intermediate upgrades required ? Thank you for any advice.

Go from 6.4 to 7.0 then to 7.8.  7.0 contains some upgrade code that has been dropped in 7.1.
