JIRA Base URL not working

siddharth January 16, 2019

Hi, We have successfully upgraded to JIRA 7.13 from 6.4.7(via interim update 7.0).

We are able to access JIRA via localhost:8080 but when we access JIRA application using ip address we are getting, the page cannot be displayed error.

We have updated the base url to ip address as well in propertystring table.

Please suggest what we are missing or what other settings needs to be done.

You should never change the base url in the database - please undo that change and re-do it properly, using the UI to update it.

To fix the main problem that you can't reach the site though, you need to give it the url (or IP address) that Jira is running on.  If the base url is wrong in the application, you will be told when you see the application, but the message you are getting is that Jira is not running at the place you have put into the browser.

Did you change the IP address of the server as well as the base url?

Thanks @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-,

We are using the correct ip address and we are able to access JIRA from the JIRA server itself using localhost and not from ip. In the above images we have used correct ip address and firewall is also disabled.

If it works from localhost, but not on an ip address, then that ip address is wrong or being blocked by your network

You will need to enable the route through your network, allowing the traffic through from your client to server - check all the firewalls, and that selinux or other security systems are allowing access to the ip address.
